Enrolment

General Information
Enrolment at Public Schools is a two stage process. Stage one involves completing an "Application for Enrolment" form. Once this form is submitted, the application is assessed then the family is informed of the outcome. If the application is successful, formal enrolment takes place. Generally speaking, families living in the suburbs of Upper Swan, The Vines, Brigadoon, and parts of Baskerville, Millendon, Belhus and Henley Brook are within the Upper Swan catchment zone; meaning enrolment in years 1 to 7 is an automatic entitlement. Families living outside the designated school zone are only accepted when the children can be accommodated within the existing class structure.

Kindergarten, Pre Primary and Year 1 Enrolment
All families seeking enrolment in our Kindergarten, Pre Primary and Year 1 classes must apply by mid July the year before the place is needed. In simple terms the priority order is as follows:

Priority 1: Children living within our catchment zone with siblings already attending.
Priority 2: Children living within our catchment zone without siblings at the school.
Priority 3: Children living outside our catchment zone with siblings already attending the school. People living closest to the school have priority.
Priority 4: Children living outside our catchment zone without siblings at the school. People living closest to the school have priority.

Note 1: Kindergarten children must be four years old by June 30 in the year they begin school. Similarly, Pre Primary children must be five years old by June 30 and Year 1 students must be six years old by June 30.

Note 2: The application process is repeated in Kindy, Pre Primary and Year 1. Once a child is enrolled in year 1, their enrolment automatically 'rolls over for the rest of primary school.

Boundary Changes from 2012
Aveley Primary School will be open for business in 2012. From this time new families will no longer be considered as priority 1 or priority 2 applicants. Children already attending Upper Swan have the choice of completing their schooling here or swapping over to Aveley PS.
